    Hi all,
I just needed to send a thank you to the group. I stumbled on this form a couple of months ago when I was desparately looking for help. As a quick refresher, my oldest child entered kindergarten in Sept and was having issues adjusting. Despite meeting with the classroom teacher and principal in the spring (at the urging of her preschool teachers) and a letter from the preschool we did not have the start we had hoped for. We were perceived as pushy parents and I was particularly sensitive to that issue having been an educator in a former life...

I received wonderful advice, thoughtful questions, and essentially a cyber-hug.

I pushed to have DD placed in a 1st/2nd class for at least a hour a day and it has been working well. This teacher has a much better handle on DD's reading abilities and an openness to DD. She is currently working with in an upper 2nd reading group, but the teacher has mentioned she knows she is able to function higher. I am just relieved to have someone in the school system acknowledge us.

Still frustrated with the K teacher, but my husband reminds me that at least she is pleasant and we are able to push through some of our demands...

Thank you again for all your support at the beginning of what looks to be an interesting journey.

    Hi Bookworm1,
    ((was there a Bookworm0?))
Sounds like the reading acceleration is working beautifully! Yesssss! Is your daughter still crying on the way to school? Is a full gradeskip, with lots of subject accelerations looking more doable? Did you get a tester?

    I recently met Aimee Yermish

Well, I'm glad you are still plugging away at this! Well Done!

    Bookworm-

I sent you a PM (private message) regarding testing options in the northeast. Just wanted to let you know, in case you didn't see it in your box. Do you have a red blinking envelope at the top of your screen when you sign in?

    take care-
