Hello. I am new here and I need some help and guidance please.MY son was screened for gifted . He was not selected as gifted but I was told he has superior GAI. He had initial testing done at school(public) then he was selected for WISC. I was told he had 96% in non verbal and 83% in verbal. What does this means? what was the initial testing before this? They told me I can get him retested privately and then if he is gifted he can be put into gifted program. Please guide and advise.
    Thanks
    A desperate mom

Hi, I am curious why you sign 'desperate mom'...are there problems with school? behavior?

Gifted kids can test low one day and high another.
What initial testing was done, and what results were there?
What do you think - is he gifted, does he need more than what he is getting in the regular classroom?
What is his age, just for reference?

Did they look at any other factors such as grades, work he might be doing at home, information from you or a teacher about why you might think he's gifted (stories, milestone info, etc). Some programs you can appeal based on these sorts of things, not just additional testing. Completely reapplying might take more testing.
