My son just loves to argue with me and his adult sister. Today, I didn't feel like getting into a debate so I just said, "You know, silence is golden," to which he replied "but a ruckus is platinum."

Today as we were leaving the local ice-cream shop at the end of a long week, my DW accidentally tossed her car keys into the trash. As she fished them out, DS6 asked "Why did you throw your keys into the trash, mom?" DW replied "I guess I just have a small brain." DS: "You need to get an upper-case brain."

    So funny!

Unfortunately both my daughters have realized that adults are somewhat easy to deceive. More unfortunately, my oldest has mistakenly come to think that this also applies to me!

So here's my most used phrase lately(feel free to pilfer):

You can fool some of the people all of the time.
You can fool all of the people some of the time.

BUT YOU CAN NEVER FOOL YOUR MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was reminded of plutoids today, and since I've only come to this forum recently, I figured I would look up the term to see if it was discussed here when Pluto was first demoted. (Of course it was discussed here!)

Part of what I was reminded of was how sad my son was when he heard this news. It was totally unexpected that he would be so bothered by this - I thought he might be excited to discuss it with his cousins and others, but he just would not talk about it - refused to speak about it for several days.
It just seemed soooooo unfair to him!

Sorry to dig up an ancient thread...but this one made me giggle in retrospect.

    LOL! That's a good one!

There was a time when we were talking about careers at the dinner table. DS said I have the best "job" because I get to boss people around. blush grin

Speaking of mothers, my sister says:

If it's not one thing, it's your mother!

Chris - my little guy responded much in the same way and argues with anyone that says Pluto isn't a planet :-) we actually found a really neat book called 11 Planets: A New View of the Solar System by National Geographic. He was SO excited that someone else agreed with him. He didn't think it was fair at all that Pluto was demoted.
