Hello. What happens if the nominator does not get the form in by the deadline? I didn't realize when I sent DD5's application in that the nominator would have a deadline to send hers in, or I would've waited until after the holidays. As it stands, the nominator deadline is Jan 1. I feel awful for putting her on the spot like that.

TIA and hope all are enjoy the holidays.

Yes, Portia explained it well.

The DYS program has rolling admissions. Complete applications received by the first of the month are reviewed that month, and applicants are notified of the decision by the end of that month.

The process repeats the next month.

More information at this FAQs link.

The answer to your question "What happens if the nominator does not get the form in by the deadline?" is:
If the application is not complete by the first of the month or the next business day following the weekend or holiday but is complete sometime later in the month, the application would be reviewed during the next month.

Looking at this month's dates specifically:
- Because January 1, 2017 falls on a Sunday, it appears that the "deadline" may move forward a day.
- Then, because the following day Monday January 2, 2017 is a National Holiday, it appears that the "deadline" may move forward another day.
- Therefore it appears that the "deadline" to be considered in the January 2017 batch of applications may be Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

The DYS FAQs webpage describes when parents will be notified, including a notification that their completed application has been received. smile

Yes, it just rolls to the end of the next month. I sent my nomination form in mid-October but for various reasons, my Nominator didn't receive a link to the form until early December. The form was completed recently, so it should be considered a complete application for the end of December and I'll hear at the end of January.

If your nominator doesn't get it done by COB on the 3rd, and gets it done later in the month, your application will be evaluated after being considered complete at the end of Jan., and you should hear by the end of Feb.

Thank you guys! She got her form in today, it appears. I got the receipt email from DYS. So I think that means she's in the January pool? Not the nerve-wracking part ... waiting. Ugh.

Yes, you should get an answer by the end of Jan. Did you get an email confirmation that ALL the required forms are submitted and complete? My husband forgot to complete his and we had to rollover for another month for my DSDYS. I know the waiting is difficult, but if you have the scores, I wouldn't stress. I labored over DD's app, but with DS I didn't spend too much time and he was accepted too. Good luck!

I received confirmations of the application and parent notifications in October, and confirmation of the Nominator in late December. I actually haven't received a "all forms have been received" email - I'm guessing/hoping that will be received tomorrow - at the end of the month.

EDIT: Received confirmation that my application was complete and put into the review process, just this afternoon (1/3).

Yes, I did receive confirmation. She is in the January pool to find out at the end of the month.

Thank you all for input. Greatly appreciated.

Congratulations, Cranberry! Perhaps we'll see you at the Summit in June.
