Lovemydd, wow! This all sounds really familiar to me, because my DS8 is like this. Beautiful penmanship, but draws every letter like an art project.

We were exploring the possibility that he might be slightly dysgraphic last year, but speed wasn't the focus of his classroom, so that problem kind of seemed to go away. It seems like it might be coming back this year in the form of number writing...

They are currently doing "mad minute" type testing at his school (the goal is 25 problems in 1 minute 30 seconds) and he's not fast enough. So I tried polarbear's suggestion this evening and was astounded at the difference between him writing the answer (4 minutes 40 seconds) and him dictating the answers (1 minute 40 seconds).

Anyways, I think I will bring this up with his teachers and see if I can persuade them to consider some kind of accommodation. After all, being fluent in math shouldn't have to mean you are fluent at writing math facts, right?
