Great advice, Howdy and Ashley as well. He does care a great deal about his classmates (overall) and in fact we've been told he is very kind to others. We'll keep reinforcing that it affects others, even if it doesn't seem like it would.
I agree that a month may be long, but I know that I've lost that point. We may be able to come up with a way he can earn it back earlier if we get good reports from this teacher.
Parenting definitely can be frustrating and scary (i.e. is there something wrong with this kid that he hasn't learned not to do this yet?!).
