Is there any way I can figure out the GAI on the WISC-V myself? It was not on the final report we were given. We have the subtest results/scores, and FSIQ, but I'm not finding good info online to even determine how GAI is calculated.

Or will we have to contact our tester and ask for this information to be given to us separately?

    Thank you!

No, you cannot calculate the GAI on the WISC-V yourself. If you need an official score report including the GAI, contact your examiner. If you're just curious, you may pm me.

The GAI is calculated using the sum of scaled scores of the two VCI, two FRI, and one of the VSI subtests. If the highest subtest scores are in those indices, then the GAI might be of interest. If they are not, then the GAI will probably be no higher than the FSIQ.

Thank you, aeh! I looked up what subtests are included in that calculation, and if I'm correct, it needs the Figure Weights subtest? Our child was not given that subtest for some reason (she was given Picture Concepts instead).

She hit the ceiling or close to it in all three Verbal subtests (18s and 19s). Other sections were good, but not as high as those. Not sure if the GAI is totally necessary, but looks like we can't get it anyway..?

Then again, maybe Picture Concepts can be substituted for Figure Weights?

aeh - I'll send you a PM. Thank you so much for your help, you are so kind to help out everyone on these boards!!!

On the WISC-V, there can be no substitutions made for any index other than the Full Scale, and only one substitution may be made for that. Thus, without the Figure Weights, a GAI couldn't be calculated.
The WISC-IV allowed for more substitutions/substitutions on other indexes, but the WISC-V is pretty firm in this regard.
