I am new to this site. Has anyone used interactive metronome for their children? If so, were you happy with the results?

    Hi there.
I'm an OT who actually uses IM in practice. I have had anywhere from small changes to amazing results with IM. Used with the right child/adult it can have an amazing impact.

My DS has received OT services for 4 years. Can you be any more specific as to what type child benefits from the IM? My son is diagnosed with SPD, CAPD, and dyslexia.

What is an interactive metronome? I think I've seen it on another thread, but I can't find it. Thanks.

IM is a computerized training program that addresses neurological processing of timing, sequencing and task focus.

I use it with kids who have problems with motor planning (dyspraxia), attention, motor coordination and other problems associated with SI disorders or LD, ADHD, autism/aspergers, etc. The best way to determine whether a child is appropriate for treatment using IM is to have the child assessed using the IM Long Form Assessment. The assessment provides starting data for performance and observations about motor control. Basically, anyone who has low scores and struggles with the tasks of the assessment would benefit from treatment.

Using IM I have seen improvements in praxis skills (motor planning), motor coordination, visual-motor skills (drawing and writing skills), attention and task focus and ability to multitask, ability to follow verbal instructions and attend to verbal information, and improved academic performance in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics.

The website has info on case studies, research, providers and more.
