Thank you for your help. The information about robots taking over the world actually came from the teacher's aid, so a figure of authority. Not sure what he was thinking - though I'm sure most of the class was fascinated and not disturbed.
Thanks for the advice on convincing him to see a therapist. We have had spring break here and he seems calmer so we'll see how it goes. The next topic in his pull out class is "survival". What is it about grade 6? Is it the year of scaring/informing them about world issues?
