Thanks-- that IS good news. I knew that they were supposed to, but wasn't aware that they HAD.

In case anyone reading with a peanut or treenut allergy doesn't keep up with food recalls, btw, right now there is an ENORMOUS one related to what seems to be adulterated imported cumin.

Really-- check USDA and FDA recall notices, because this is a MASSIVE recall in N. America, and it is still rippling through the food manufacturing chain.

Good to know. Not one of the ingredients you would intuitively think, "oh, I wonder if there is cross-contamination?"

That's what I was afraid of - that there really isn't any shortcuts to more information. Thankfully, I don't believe that any of my kids are in that top 2% range with any of their allergens. While they have to be careful not to touch contaminated surfaces, they can be in the same room with the allergens. I can't imagine having to worry about getting an allergic reaction from just being in the same room with peanuts/nuts. Life would be truly limiting as it would be hazardous to fly, go on a cruise or to a resort, or even enter many buildings.

You are absolutely right. Each of my three kids have a different level of tolerance to one of the allergens that is common to them. Doctors tend to err heavily on the side of caution, which is probably as it should be but may be more limiting than it has to be.

LOL - I remember those conversations and why I stop having them. Unless you can actually read the label, their representations are questionable at best. The scary part is when a restaurant uses an ingredient that doesn't make any sense and therefore is completely unexpected.

Yep, that was the other thing that I noticed. It's particularly hard when I purchase imported products. Fortunately, I often have some idea about those other products/companies but still it was easier when my kids didn't want to try everything.

It takes as long as your client is willing to pay the bill.

I don't know if that was an intent, but it has certainly been a result. Often times I do end up with the pricier alternative to avoid contamination issues.
