My DD9 is on a Mindstorms team, and her primary complaint is getting time with the robot to upload her programs and see what happens, since they only have the one that's shared among the team as they each program parts of the mission.
I'm not shopping for a robot for the home, primarily because we would also have to duplicate the environment to robot is supposed to perform in. That environment changes every year, and I'm not sure how feasible it would be to duplicate at home... though I have to admit I haven't been in to look at it yet.
