One change that I was not aware with the upcoming switch to the "GiftedandTalented.com" format: I was just told that Beginning Algebra would no longer be included in OE after July 30. Since DD9 has been playing with the Algebra portion of EPGY this summer, I was surprised to hear this and renewed now so we'd still have access in the coming year. I am not certain whether the new format will somehow include algebra, but just an FYI for anyone who is getting close to their renewal deadline. HTH!

"I was just told that Beginning Algebra would no longer be included in OE after July 30."

Where/how did you hear this? I could not find this explicitly in any communication, e.g.
    http://epgy.stanford.edu/parent-update
    http://epgy.stanford.edu/land/email/Third_Parent_Letter_and_Web_Copy.pdf (1pg pdf)
though they do allude to various changes.

Anyway, we just enrolled recently so I assume we have access to the course for the full 10 months.

I was told this by an EPGY service rep. when I called to ask a few questions about renewal. If you enrolled already, though, you should be fine. I was told that if I waited until after July 30 to renew, I could no longer access algebra under OE, as it would no longer be offered as a part of OE (for those not already enrolled).

They should be moving in the other direction -- offering more higher level courses at lower prices for students who do not need a tutor or can have a parent tutor them.

We're going to use AoPS for higher level courses. But, yes, it would be nice to have more options.

AoPS seems the way to go for seriously mathy kids, but EPGY could be good to go through some material with some speed and depth, but with more direct demonstration, and without the really challenging problems.

I wasn't able to travel to the latest seminar, but I have a conference call coming up regarding the changes. I will be sure to mention this, again. smile I will also ask for clarification because this information isn't available to SSA's right now.

I thought they were actually keeping algebra and adding geometry to EPGY OE. This was not in any communications I received from EPGY but based on the Redbird Advanced Learning website, so I could be wrong. Communication from EPGY has been very haphazard and unclear.

I spoke with the new coordinator for EPGY. There are a lot of changes being made to the program on many levels. The OE Introductory Algebra will be moved to the new tutor supported courseware. I am posting a new thread regarding what I know of the changes shortly.
