Yea!!!!!!! That's what I'm talking about Willa - each hand can do it's own thing, it's the combining them that is hard! The instructor must have seen the struggle and, being experienced at teaching two handed piano playing, broke it down to accomodate! Yea!!!! And now that Mite has the felt the thrill of success at his accomplishment, he will be even more motivated to advance his skills - not so frustrated with the task. And, being so smart, he will likely be independent to use the technique the instructor showed him. I bet soon you'll see him tackle new pieces by doing each hand separately and then combining them. Good for him! I'm so happy to hear about the triumph!
As his skills get better on the piano, I also believe it will carry over to other bilateral coordination stuff. Great news - his lessons are the perfect example of "occupational therapy" (skills developed through function) at work! Thanks for sharing the update!
