Little Monster had a showdown with one of her teachers. Thank heavens she's at this tiny flexible school! They get it that the strong-willed thing is a frequent aspect of being smart, and we talked about strategies rather than them getting all judgemental. Still, it was embarassing, having to bodily carry her out of the aftercare program crying and screaming. Complete short-circuit of the frontal lobes.

Then after we got home and she'd had a chance to recharge her batteries, she read through a Starfall story all by herself for the first time ever.

My crazy, complicated demon-child is now asleep. Here's hoping tomorrow is a little less . . . interesting.

    Oh dear.

There's a lot to be said for tiny flexible schools. smile

My eldest attended a school that understood that kids have meltdowns and can act a bit wild. Whenever something would happen with the little kids (e.g. The Haunted Bathroom; don't ask), he would sent a nice email to the parents of everyone involved saying a) what had happened and b) "We know that these kinds of things happen with the young ones. Part of our job is to help them grow and mature so that they can learn to avoid these kinds of situations."

I suspect that the people at your' daughter's school know this too. smile
