Let me reply here - my DD6 (2d grade)is happy to go to school every day. In fact, she begged during the break to go to school... I cannot quite figure this out - is is bad or good for me as a parent grin But I would like to add that last year she was quite miserable and this was not attributed only to boredom (the work she did was still below her level),as I figured out, but to overall environment. She did not “click” with the teacher and the class overall. So she would be upset in the mornings and evenings when it was time to do homework (repetitive and boring). This year she blossomed as far as overall happiness and, while she does the same type of work, she is happy as she can be every day. I just like to point this out. I had to tell her every day last year (well, for 4 month since it happened after her skip) to wait it out…

Believe it or not, my DD15 loves school. She is very introverted and does not have much of a social life. (I worry about this). She enjoys learning and being with people at school. I feel fortunate that I don't have to make her go to school.

My daughter picked up a bad study habit when she was in elementary school. She didn't need to study but still got all A's and awards. We took her out from the private school of 6 years and sent her to the GATE program in a public school. She got overwhlemed at first since her study habit wouldn't fulfil the requirements of the more vigorous program. She finally manage to change her habit. During these two years of training in the middle school, she's now very capable to excel in the pre-IB program in her HS.

Make sure a good study habit is vital for all gifted children. It's from my own experience. Good luck! Gifted children are fun and rewarding if you do the things right for them.
