I just googled it and you're doing it backwards. You don't go second you wipe first then they wipe second to check your work and that way they practice the motion.

I had another thought about this today. You can try what we had to do for so many things: do it ABA style! Put your hand over his hand and go through every motion with him. Get him to get the paper, crumple it up while physically guiding his hand. Repeat as often as it takes, decreasing the amount of pressure you put on his hand till he does it on his own. Don't talk about it, just do it matter-of-factly. Kate

I am excited to read this thread. I thought my DS6 is the only one. LOL. He does have company. Mine does it, but most of the time doesn't do it properly. After a while he starts complaining about itchy bottom. Sorry I don't have any advice.

I think my DS5.5 is (maybe) finally getting the hang of it. We were doing better until this Christmas when he developed a bleeding hemmie (poor, poor kid). Using lots of TP and flushing after each wipe worked as well a wet wipe to finish up (as others mentioned) . A friend of mine said that she started lots more showers/baths once her DS was wiping himself to help keep him clean.

How about a package of medical gloves next to the toilet? He can put them on, wipe and toss in the garbage.
