    I think something you need to understand is that being close-minded, racist and bigoted has nothing to do with their political affiliation.

    I don't remember reading how old you are, but if you are 18+ you need to simply limit your time with them. You are certainly not going to change their ways, and I can understand how talk like that might anger you. I have some relatives that are totally anti-homosexual and I typically just have to get up and walk away when they start going off.

    ETA: Sadly, being a big old racist has nothing to do with IQ either. Some rather intelligent folks were involved with Nazis and other terrible regimes throughout history.

    Now I can see why you were so upset. You would be justified in asking people who started talking like that in your home to either stop doing so or leave. You could also call them afterward and explain that they won't be invited back unless they stop talking like that.

    Since you still want to maintain family relations, it may be safer to visit them than having them leave, since leaving a gathering early is less awkward than telling people to leave.
