DS 12 and I were in a heated discussion about some problems I was having understanding what was going on with his schedule at school as we walked into the ice rink for skating practice. (Middle school = very little communication from the school when things change) DS looked at me and said calmly that he would not discuss it anymore while we were at the rink. The ice rink is his time to let all of that other stuff go and just level out and skate. In his words, ice time and at home are when he can be a pyramid instead of someone trying to squish him into a 2 dimensional square.

It was hard to hear but really pretty cool to me that he is getting to the point that he can identify and appreciate where he can level out as well as understand that he is not shaped for the education system we have.
