I'm in a mandated state so I'm on the persevere and insist on an appropriate IEP wagon. It is a long and frustrating process that I just keep telling myself will pay off in the long run.
If your state is mandated I'd go to the state website and familiarize yourself with as many laws concerning gifted education as you can. In our case we found that the district mislead us and lied to us. Sad really. So I've brought it to the state level. I'm hopeful that the state will force them to follow the laws.
