Hello, It has been a while since I've been on. I find myself a bit lost and needing a little advice and maybe some comradeship. The year has began and my DS8 has started 3rd grade. They have a accelerated math program that he is participating in. Which I'm now evaluating because it still might be unchallenging. Being that he is socially attached to his classmates he refused grade acceleration. He is very liked and has many friends. The problem is that he has a problem with time management. He has to finish the math sheet before the bell rings or go to detention to finish it. This is a classroom rule.I believe it's geared to the students who goof around but she addressed it to the whole class. He has never been to detention although his anxiety level rises. His words the very fear of not finishing before the bell rings puts so much pressure all he can do is focuss on the time not the work itself. In first grade when he had to take a timed multiplcation test he would run around scream pull his hair cry oh what a fuss. He would always finsh though. Then we deceided to time without letting him know he was being timed he finish in like a min.He has very sensitive hearing and is very intuned with his surroundings.Anything with a time restaint on it his stress level rises and you can see the worry in his eyes. Is this common with gifted kids. Does anyone have any advice they can offer? I don't know how to help him. This morning When we departed I told him just to try his best and he looked at me peturbed and said I should have not said anything adults just don't understand. frown HElP
