I have to say, I wish your scenario sounded realistic for us, but DS has executive function issues and is not very independent, to put it mildly. He has about the same ability to do things on his own as his two-year-old sister, who is not as bright in the way that her brother is but is very organized and independent and will probably have an infinitely easier time at school (and in life) . . .
