Oh, shoot, I really did not mean anything like that "kids even out by the third grade" nonsense. Yes, I was talking about third grade reading level, which as far as I'm concerned has nothing to do with age. (My DD is not yet 4 and definitely a fluent reader--more fluent than dyslexic DH, in fact, though her comprehension obviously isn't as strong.)
