Well... originally we had the school sending home math "challenge" sheets for him in lieu of his normal math (which he still has to do doing the day with the rest of the class). The challenge sheets weren't very good in our opinion and they were completely disconnected with the curriculum. So when they ran out of challenge sheets, DW decided to give him sheets from the middle to end of a workbook we purchased a long time ago. I didn't know she was sending them in until recently. That may have prompted the change or possibly a call from the gifted teacher. Not sure. I hope it continues as DS6 has been very interesting in learning lately, focusing on math and we're back to human anatomy.

As a general update as I've been lurking for most of the last month or two... His reading is just amazing these days. They're doing a reading challenge. If you read a book or have a book read to you then it counts. (For his grade, if it's a chapter book, then 20 pages counts as "a book"). You get a reward if you get to 100 books by the end of the year. Needless to say that he'll be closing in on 500 books soon. We're running out of reading material! smile

At any rate, outside of school things are going pretty well. A lot of the behavioral issues aren't issues anymore. Some of that is probably due to his maturity and some of that is probably due to our strategies. For example since we have math homework sent ahead of time, he'll do all of the week's work on Sunday afternoon so that he's not rushing around so much during the week.
