Hi, I have not been around much this school year.

DS7 (2e - dyslexia/dysgraphia/dyspraxia) has had a great first grade year. In about 18 months he went from struggling with BOB books to now, according to his teachers, reading at the high school level. I'm not sure about the level but he can pretty much pick up anything and read it. He reads several chapter books a week.

At our parent teacher conference last month, we learned that he's the top student in every subject even after being accelerated a year or more in every subject.

His accomdations include oral answers on his advanced reading comprehension and no timed math fact tests. He gets an alternate assignment instead of the timed test.

He has good friends, good teachers and likes being at school.

He finally cares about his school work. He takes pride in accomplishing good work. He actually studies on his own for difficult spelling tests because he wants to progress to the next list. Interestingly, he has a study method. "I don't need to study all 25 words. I need to know the rule for the week and the words that are an exception. There are usually only six or so exceptions." It's nice to see him figuring this stuff out on his own.

I'm so happy this year has gone so well.
