I just went through the exact same thing re:3rd grade math and 4th grade math and not being able to get to a 4th grade math class. So they were just going to have him do 3rd grade again that he did in second grade.

So anyway, took the first 4 weeks of school to get this straightened out but we finally went with a whole grade skip. My first choice would have been to just accelerate the math and leave him a 3rd grader. But in order to see the math happen we ended up with the skip. We are only a few days into the skip so in a week or two I'll know more, once the dust settles.
