Go and listen. Look up the school's motto and ask how each thing relates to the school's motto. Try and figure out what metaphors and topics make the Principle's heart go pitter-pat.

Remember that whatever they have put together has it's strengths and challenges, so you aren't there as a consultant - you are there to figure out what motivates these people. Assume that you won't be able to change the system, so concentrate on figuring out how to get your child's needs met 'in the flexible places.'

Listen to what the other parents are concerned with. When you advocate for your child, it will help to keep in mind what the pressures on the school are like.

Don't try and get your individual concerns in this group meeting. Maybe ask what the protocol is to get a meeting with the teacher and the Gifted Coordinator.

How has school been going so far?
Love and More Love,
