Have you checked the Hoagies Gifted Education Page, Psychologists familiar with the gifted? There are a few under 3 hours from Houston (Austin, San Antonio) and a couple more about 4 hours from Houston (Colleyville and Denton... near Dallas).

You might also try contacting your State's local affiliate of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC): Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT). I notice the TAGT annual conference is being held next week (June 18-20) in San Antonio.

Some families choose their assessment professional without regard to location and then plan a family vacation trip designed to incorporate the testing.

There is an organization PEAS that I looked into a while back. They do all kinds of comprehensive evaluations, but are expensive.

Maybe consider calling some of the private schools admissions departments, such as St. John's, Kinkaid, Awty, the Village School, etc. and ask them who they use to do their evaluations for Kinder. I think some of them do their own, and most just use ISEE and Olsat for older students, but others use testing centers for the younger students that might offer more reasonable prices or at least lead you in the right direction.

Those schools use either CAPS or Education Specialists. And, that isn't a recommendation, just information. If you find someone, I'd be interested in that information.
