Data Collection and Student Longitudinal Data Systems have been mentioned for years on the forums, especially when used as a tool to measure a teacher's success and a school's success in achieving equal outcomes... which unfortunately may often involve capping the growth of gifted students.

This post is to raise awareness among the US public that our House of Representatives of the 115th Congress are still seeking input, for a few more days, on H.R. 2434, introduced in May 2017, and dubbed the "College Transparency Act." This would change the Higher Education Act, and limitations on the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) changing the focus to collection of data on individual students rather than on colleges and post-secondary institutions.

If signed into law, this bill would increase the powers of the federal government to inventory persons, collecting and permanently storing much more data than the decennial census. Data could be shared with commercial enterprises, contain errors, and of course be breached.

This is not "partisan politics"; Members of both parties are involved in co-sponsorship. This issue specifically pertains to gifted education... as gifted identification may be tracked.

If you are a US citizen and believe the HR2434 data collection initiative erodes your childrens' lifelong privacy and liberty, you may exercise your 1st Amendment Right to free speech by contacting your US Representative to voice your opposition to bill HR2434:
