My second grade son had a MAP (Measuring Academic progress ) test in his school today .

He got a MATH test score of 217 . Could you please help me understand this score . Is this a good score?

I'm stealing some info from inky:

Here's a link to look up the norms for math:

A 217 is an excellent score -- in the 99th percentile for middle of the year 2nd grade.

For another perspective, see this norm chart, where 217 falls within the median score for 5th graders:

(inky - correct me if I'm wrong!)

that looks correct from what I have. I hadnt seen the MAP norms. I found that to be interesting.... as I kick myself for not insisting they accelerate Frannie for math. They do reading at the levels they are at. Math she should have skipped 1st grade math and gone to second. I am hoping we will be able to fill in the second grade gaps this summer and skip second grade math next year...

I think this chart shows additional norms, including high and low achiever:

Looks good to me and would just add the 217 is at the 95% for middle of year 3rd grade.

My first-grade son scored a 258 on the MAP test in Mathematics and 217 in Reading. The links to scoring charts posted in this thread do not seem to be active. I know these are high scores based upon the response to the poster, but was wondering if the poster or anyone else had an active link to a scoring chart. Thanks!
