Is that really all the schools there are in the US? It seems like there should be more. I would think that NJ would have a school.

I wonder how many private and public school are handling the gifted students well?

I'm not sure what this list is directed at, but there are around 10 public schools for gifted in MN that are not listed here. The private school that is listed for MN is not primarily a gifted school.

Hoagies is a little more up to date, at least for MN. I think you can use the list above as another bit of information in your quest for gifted schools. Unfortunately, there is unlikely to ever be a complete, up-to-date listing, as schools change.

Our local gifted public school isn't on either list (South Dakota) - http://www.sf.k12.sd.us/CustomControls/DeliverPublicDocument.aspx?doc=4500

I personally know of two that aren't on the list, so I'm sure that there are many others that didn't make the cut. The two that I know of are supposed to be very good schools, though, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't have made it.

Maybe we should each take a few minutes and email Carolyn at Hoagies (webmaster@hoagiesgifted.org) with the gifted schools in our states to help her keep her list up to date (I'm guessing hers is probably the most comprehensive so far). I'll submit for MN (since I'm on vacation right now). smile

ETA: someone already did my work for me, and I forwarded this to Carolyn. Thanks Janette!

Opps - My bad! Context needed! This should help:

Please note that for many of the schools listed, we do not have firsthand experience nor any other knowledge that the school will meet the unique needs of your child(ren). We offer this listing only as a starting point for parents of gifted children.

I agree, updating this list and Hoagies list is a wonderful idea! Parents - send in your nominations!
