Does anyone here have any experience with the Harker School in San Jose/near Santa Clara, CA?

They're having an open house for parents of gifted kids in a few weeks, and I'm going to attend. Any information from people here would be greatly appreciated; PM me if you want.

    Hi Val,

Have you attended Harker's open house yet? I PMed you a few days ago but I am not sure whether it went through or not.

Another school that is very good in the San Jose area is Lynbrook. Both produce many excellent students each year. It will be interesting to compare these two.

I work in South bay but live some 2 hours away. So not very familiar with either of them.

    Hi Chenchuan,

The open house is on the 1st of December, so not yet. I'll post a summary of our impressions if you're interested.

Lynbrook is in Fremont, and we're not, so that's out.

    Hey Val,

Was wondering if you could post the findings of your visit to the Harker's Open House. Do you have any info on their program for gifted kids?

I was also wondering if there were any Davidson young scholars who've attended Harker. I'm tossing over in my head Harker or home school. I went to the open house and flipped though some of the text books and were a bit disappointed. The curriculum appeared to easy for my child. He's reading at a grade 4 level and math is grade 3-4 (there are gaps in his knowledge). Harker seemed like a great school but worried my child will be bored. If there are any Davidson kids who've attended, please msg me your experience with the school. Thanks.

I sent you a private message with some ideas. You should see a red blinking envelope near the top of the page. Click on My Stuff to read it.

My dd was accepted to The Harker School for 8th grade. Any YS currently attending 7/8 grade? Would love to connect with any kids that are my daughter's age (12) and are attending Harker or thinking of attending Harker.

Also any information from DYS parents would be extremely helpful. We will be moving from Los Angeles.

I think it is a very good private school. There are some kids who come from super wealthy families and it has the reputation for being elitist in that sense.

I was wondering if you stayed at Harker and what you thought about the experience. Thanks for your feedback.
