Study finds first evidence that ADHD is genetic

I hadn't heard anything on this before. My son's psychologist said that it's "genetic" meaning that it's passed down, but nothing like this.

    Any thoughts?

I saw this posted on another forum. I'm not surprised - I can point to specific members of my family that are responsible for the "gene". We are participating in a couple of similar studies regarding dyslexia and the "genes" that carry the trait.

    What do you think?

I think this part is crazy (as in wow!)

Researchers who scanned the gene maps of more than 1,400 children found that those with ADHD were more likely than others to have small chunks of their DNA duplicated or missing.
I hope it leads to better treatments, that's all!

I agree, better treatments would be great! I'd also like to be able to more easily whether or not it is really ADHD or other things.
