So we have these wppsi results that show dd4 in 99th percentile for both verbal and performance. This is actually kind of surprising because she seems very very verbal and sort of 'meh' on the puzzle-type stuff, but it says there is some deductive reasoning angle to the performance side, so that makes more sense.

I would be really freaked out by these numbers, except that I have been keeping up with the wppsi/very young testing threads, which lead me to believe they could drop off in subsequent years. But overall I think they do speak to what we are seeing at home, certainly on the vocab.
I do have one question at this point, what are ceilings for all these subtests?

thanks for anyone who can point me to that info!

At least I can go back to the kindergarten folks with some firmer info on giving her a try with early K...

Hi Dottie, thanks for responding. I wanted to just understand if I am looking at mostly 'ceiling' numbers or just solidly high numbers. She only hit a ceiling on vocab, if 19 is the highest, and came close with block design which was a bit of a surprise.

The report just states flat 99th for these, no decimals or + signs; Raw and Scaled scores are included, but I wasn't so worried about 99.?, but the info you provide is interesting.

Really just trying to figure out placement for the fall, there are a couple of kindergarten options, and ability scores aren't the only factor involved, for sure, but at least I have some sort of starting place.
    thanks again~

Yes, I agree on taking the scores with a grain of salt at this age, but it is nice to see that they line up with the home picture, too - especially when parenting her is such a struggle sometimes!! (it really helps explain the non-stop inquisition/high-need thing)

Good point about the information-rich puzzles; I have seen dd do puzzles more for the info, too, we have a big solar system one and when she did it the first couple times I was beginning to think she was a puzzler, but in the end she mainly wanted to talk about Saturn, etc. Guess she is probably fairly capable, but more interested for now in the info she can check out in the completed picture!
