    Dear Ones -
Hat's off to coining "The Vultures"

I found myself explaining "The Chicken Dance" to a IRL mom, and I thought - It's time to codify the slang and abbreviations we need to talk about our children.
I'll state mine, you critique, and add yours, ok?

    ssa - single subject acceleration
mssa - single subject accelerations in more than one subject (m for multiple)
base grade, or homebase grade - the lowest grade a child attends when a child takes classes in multiple grades.

agemates - childen who are the grade your child would be expected, on the basis of age alone, to be in.
the chicken dance - what your child does daily in school to live the ssa or mssa
grade skip - when your child is "assigned" a base grade different from their age mates

AM+1 - ssa, mssa, or grade skip one year ahead of agemates
AM+2 - ssa, mssa, or grade skip two years ahead of agemates
    AM+3 - and so on.

    CC - community college
    EC - early college
    ps - public school
    is - independent school
DP - dear partner or dear Principal, depending on context

These are the ideas that I'm trying to say and type over and over again. What are yours?

Love and More Love, and a little Humor,
    Trinity

I reccomend that we reserve Chicken Dance for the student's eye veiw of MSSA. What we do to set up the schedules is called "Advocacy" - LOL!

But I'll take any slang for the various moves in a typical Advocacy Dance!

Cute slang for your twins? I'll get back to you on that one - could take a while.

    TIP - totally irritated parent

BETB = begging, explaining, and tongue biting == advocacy:^)

SIN = stupidity in numbers = the vultures when they gang up to support their ignorant assumptions

    HP = hair pulling

JMs = joy moments = those little cute gifted things they say or those moments of brilliance when the giftedness is shining through

SEEITYSO = see I told you so = what we really want to say when the kid hits the mark on the tests

BLECH = sums up the frustrations

"Performance Twins" = siblings in the same grade but different chronological ages

or maybe "Twins for the Moment" since that status may change when one or the other surges ahead

well...time to face the vultures in their SIN:^), I gotta get Mite to school

    ((applause))
For the performance twins, for the moment, I liked your sports reference - "Oh, he's just lapped her."

There's always the all purpose, "He marches to a his own drummer, we never know where he'll be come September." As if it's the most natural thing in the world.

    Csikszentmihalyi, Trinity?

my understanding is that flow is being completely involved, focused, concentrating, curiosity motivated, with a sense of ecstasy or being outside reality, and with great clarity and understanding, neither being anxious nor bored, feeling capable, learning just for the reward of understanding...etc.
