She qualifies for the school pullout program. Whew!

The OLSAT score is lower than I expected. I wonder how she would do on an individual test? My gut says she's HG.

Verbal 131
Nonverbal 126
Composite 130

Her achievement score on the SAT10:

Total reading 99th
Total math 94th

All of the above except the nonverbal are qualifying.

Her creativity score on Profile of Creative Abilities is 121. It was not qualifying but she had enough with the other scores.

At this point, she'll qualify to take the SAT or ACT with Duke TIP in 7th grade (she's in the 5th grade Duke program now and will take EXPLORE.) I'm going to see how school plays out - although I'm really curious about what further testing would show, I don't see spending the money unless I need a big educational change. I can live with MG numbers since I know her potential.

I am glad she qualified! I am not sure, but I would think that many kids would score higher (and closer to their true level) with a good tester in a one-on-one situation.

Is it a weekly pull out?

Time to update the signature line, and congratulations for making it over this hurdle. The Explore will really add to the picture. Those are solid scores, smile .

Thanks for reminding me to change my sig, Dottie!

Mam, it's a twice-weekly pull-out for gifted enrichment. She's also separately qualified for a twice-weekly math pull-out, so that's four times a week. That's four times more a week than she was getting all through elementary!

Did she take the SAT10 through school? How long did it take to get the results? GS10 took it two weeks ago.

OhGrandma,

All 5th graders in DD's school take SAT10 to see how the school does on national norms. It took well over a month to get the scores. I haven't gotten the spiffy printout yet (pout!) just a form from the GT teacher.

To quote Tom Petty..the waiting is the hardest part! DD7 took it last year in early Nov and we didn't get scores until mid-January. Ugh!
I like the quick turnaround of MAP.

Just mama musings here. Dr. Ruf has a level 3 case study who scored lower on OLSAT than DD (their SB ratio IQ was really high). Additionally, DD has a standard score of 143 on the Woodcock Diagnostic Reading Battery. Furthermore, she met every milestone for Level 3 and most for Level 4. Therefore, my committee of knowlegable persons (read: mom's opinion) declares that she's Level 3 and HG. :-) Tee hee.

Congrats on the scores. You should be very proud of her and I hope the pull out program helps. Crossing my fingers for you.
