Hi - I have a gt 9 yr. old son who is doing math at approx. the 6th grade level. He hates traditional math programs, so I am looking for something more interesting to keep him going. Is Murderous Maths written for younger kids or would a 9 year old enjoy the books too? I have never seen the books, and the website is not very clear on the appropriate age level. Thanks!

our DS discovered the books when he was about to turn 9. He devoured them.

I can't say what "age" they're written for, but they're very clever, Brit-style, and DS laughed a lot.

    hope this helps!

you mention the website: is it this one?

    http://www.murderousmaths.co.uk/

We found lots of fun stuff there.

Thanks for the link. I was actually looking at the Scholastic UK site, but your link looks like it has great stuff.

In addition to the Murderous Maths, you may want to consider the Life of Fred Series. Although we haven't used them (yet), I've peeked at my niece's books and they seem great! Other users on this forum can give you more first hand knowledge.

    From their website:

    1) When should my child start the series?

Life of Fred: Fractions is the first book in the series. It presupposes that the reader knows three things:
    i) the addition tables What's 5 + 8?
ii) the multiplication tables What's 7 times 8?
iii) long division What's 6231 divided by 93?

The US-based website I've used (thanks to JBDad's recommendation) is:

    Ray is GREAT!

    Hope this helps.
