Lot's going on in Montgomery Co. vis a vis GT issues. The "More" Child blog (http://themorechild.com) has many resources and links.

Worth checking: this story in the Takoma Voice in which an African-American mom talks about why she left MCPS. http://www.takoma.com/archives/copy/2009/10/schoolscene1009.html

I really enjoy your blog, SwitchedOnMom, and am often surprised at how Montgomery Co. parallels what's happening here in my area. The Takoma Voice article is very moving; the mom quite gracefully walks a fine line between telling her story and supporting public education.

Thanks for the heads up on the article. We live in the surrounding area and have been debating a move to Montgomery County to have access to better, "public schools". It appears MCPS are facing the same problems we have experienced in our county, very frustrating indeed
