My DS4 reads around the 4th grade level and still cannot say the alphabet. He gets lots somewhere around "D". It just holds no interest or importance for him.

I have to share an update on this. My DD was really anxious about starting kindergarten last week. Her concern? That it would be too hard! She also knew that there is a girl in the class who has already turned 6 over the summer(DD turned 5 over the summer) and she was worried that she wouldn't be able to keep up with her. I explained that the reason the other girl was 6 is that she wasn't ready to start kindergarten when she was 5 (private school). That's the thing with gifted kids...they can understand how much there is to learn out there and they have a broader perspective.

So, after school on Friday I was working at my computer on the kitchen table. She walked into the room with a chapter book, sat at the table, opened it to a random page and read two pages out loud. She then closed it and left the room. I was floored! She wouldn't do it again all weekend then just now, before leaving for school this morning, she did it again with a different book.

This is going to be an interesting adventure...
