I know what it is, but like what the scores would mean. DD13 appears to have scored pretty high, and we can not find many books in that high of range that would be interesting. Isn't it kind of pointless to get this number and only have a couple of books be good that she would even want to read?

Oh, and any books for high lexile would be good, I don't think her score is incredible or anything; she did not hit the ceiling that I know of, but its off all of the charts that I have found (so I brought it here). Anybody have extended charts?

this should be what you need. It is a measure for reading ability with a high vocabulary component.

This led me to a new "Find a Book" web site:

So if DS8s SRI score is 1380-something, that's at college level? Do I understand this correctly?

UGH, it's all so confusing. I've been trying to sort this out for awhile now. I remember his teacher saying that the SRI scores topped out at 1100? (I don't recall the exact #) which was about 11th grade. She did say that DSs was off the charts which would indicate 11+. However, on the Lexile Map, 1100 is 9th gr level, which doesn't quite correspond with the 7.3 on the link you provided. Also, on the 'score' sheet they send home, it shows the average/quarter for 3rd grade in the 500s, which does correspond with the Lexile Map.

I guess it doesn't really matter, it's just frustrating to have conflicting info on something that (I feel) should be pretty simple and black/white, kwim? I think I give up, LOL.

    Anyway, thanks for the info.

I thought the AR to Lexile Chart was interesting. When I googled for more info, I came across this chart which differs on the high end significantly from the one Dottie posted. This has the 1100/9th grade match JDAx3 wrote about.

Also to go along with what Dottie said, I got a Lexile score from DD7's SAT-10 report as well as her NWEA MAP Test. The tests were within a couple months of each other (Nov and Jan).

The Lexile from the SAT-10 was in the Lexile range from NWEA MAP. Converting the Lexile to the AR grade level corresponded well with the Grade Equivalent from the WJ-III (which was given a couple months later in March). It was good to see some consistency in the results between the all the tests. It's nice to see a pattern in the string of data. wink
