What would be a good computer program or website for K-3 math. We use Singapore math books but my younger girls are constantly asking about using ALEKS like their older sister. I am looking for something for them. We currently have Aha Math and they just aren't very interested/impressed with it. Any other suggestions that won't break the bank?

Time4Learing.com was a great option for DS6 last year. You can change the grade level available very easily and the activities are fun. Kids can skip around to topics that interest them. It costs $20 a month and no long term commitment. You also have access to science, social studies, and language art activities.

We used the program for around 10 months before DS6 got bored of it. I would definitely recommend it. I think they also still give you a free trial.

What about Beestar.org? It's a semester-long progressive program. It doesn't teach, per se, but it has two 10-question quizzes that get harder as the semester goes on, and gives you ideas for teaching. The basic math is free; there are other subjects that are $20-$30 for the semester.

Scores are tracked, and kids can earn places on the "honor roll" for accuracy and speed.

Watch grade levels, though; last year in K, ds-now-6 had no trouble whatsoever with grade 1 and grade 1 GT. I just signed him up for Grade 3 for this spring, but looking at the samples I probably should have signed him up for Grade 4 for a bit more thinking.

    Mia,

Thanks for the BeeStar.org reminder. I just signed DS6 up for the spring term. Last year the grade 1 was not challenging enough so I am going to have him do the free 3rd grade this year.
