Another new one, here! I am so happy to have found this site. I just finished a Gifted Education course yesterday and am all fired up to learn more. It was an on-line course and the best part of it was the classroom discussions. We, as parents and/or teachers, are often each others best source for information and ideas!

I have a highly gifted 9 yr old son, and an 8 yr old gifted daughter. Even though (or maybe especially because)they have a wonderful GATE teacher, my husband and I are interested in becoming advocates for gifted education. We'd also like to know more about opportunities available to gifted kids.

Currently, our kids are attending a Summer Institute for the Gifted at Alexander Dawson school in Las Vegas, where they are having a blast. Have any of you experienced any great programs?

I am looking forward to hearing/learning from you!

    Welcom Staci!
I'm glad to hear that your kids are enjoying SIG. My son starts their daycamp next week. Are you interested in becoming a gifted advocate in the sense of advocating for your children or in the sense of working for parents who are sick of ****ing their heads against the system wall all alone. I congradulate you for either ambition!

Where was the online course? Do you have a day job (beyond parenting, which I consider an excellent full time job - a bit scanty on the economic benifits though.)

How far are you from Reno? Have you thought about the Davidson gifted school there?

    Smiles -
