(She was actually like, duh, mom, of course I can play bass clef. lol.)
I've experienced learning that one or the other of my children was able to play an instrument by hearing them suddenly playing through whole songs, after never hearing them play at all previously. We do have a lot of instruments lying around our house, including ones neither I nor my SO can play well or at all, and homeschooled kids with a lot of free time while I'm at work, but still, I would have thought I would at least have heard a tiny bit of rudimentary development.
