    Happy New Year!

DS took AoPS's Intro to Python and absolutely loved it. He wants to take the second class there. He seems to be under the impression that he will be able to create his own games. Now by "games", I mean he thinks he can create graphics within the program as well, create push buttons, etc. Something along the lines of solitaire on the computer. Is this a correct assumption? If not, what is the progression to be able to create a game like this?

In addition, his 2018 goal is to post this game to a WordPress website to play with others. I am clueless when it comes to anything in this realm. Can anyone help me lay out his path to achieve this goal?

Side note: he has access to all the classes with YouthDigital as well. He does not seem to like Java as well as Python. But maybe he hasn't seen the light???

    Thank you!!!

DS took the second Python course and enjoyed it. They do make quite a few different games like Solitaire and Minesweeper. DS enjoyed the class.

Since no one else has commented I thought I would add that my son enjoyed Python but has not spent too much time trying to make games but used it to solve problems. He has been involved in the USACO competitions and this year we found that UCF has one online competition that he did.

I tried to encourage him to learn Java and had him do a week summer camp on it but he much preferred Python after the camp. He is taking AP Computer Science this year so finally he it has become necessary to learn Java and he has done very well (but still likes Python much better than Java).

I think I have seen that your son likes math so he might enjoy trying to write some programs to solve problems on Project Euler.

    Good luck!

You guys are so great. I had never heard of Project Euler but it looks like exactly what my youngest has been looking for all his life.
