I'm looking for recommendations for an online writing course this summer for our son who will be in 6th grade next year.

He tends to write in a condensed style and needs help with "filling out" his writing.

I read great things about onlineg3.com and hoped to use them for my son (who is not great at writing) but I looked at them a while ago and their summer courses do not seem to be that great and their regular courses during the school year seem to be geared only to homeschooled kids given the timing of the courses, etc.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? DS enters 9th next year and needs some help. We have looked for a local tutor but it is quite difficult to find a good one...

I have heard great things about Druidawn, but they have a significant waiting list.

Our public library has writing groups where writers meet to support and critique each other's work, teens are welcome.

Also Missou Online HS has middle school and high school writing courses:

DD did a DTY reading class a couple summers ago and had a good experience, but I've heard from others their courses can be a little hit-or-miss depending on the quality of the instructor. And also are really expensive IMO.
