Platypus, she sounds wonderful and will go far with this attitude.
Not sure how old she is but her future teachers will absolutely love her essays.

Platypus, I love how your DD has taken something that could be dry and made it into something delightfully her own!

DD6 proposed a bargain to DS4: If he would put on a show with her, she would play Letterpress (a Scrabble-like word game) with him. DS looked a little startled (they haven't played against each other before), then delighted, then a little confused. The difficulty is that DD is not yet reading or writing much, while DS is a crack player who can regularly beat adults. Finally he said, "OK, (DD), I'll play short words that you can read. And I won't try to get territory." I was a little concerned that DD would see this as condescending, coming from her little brother, but she responded happily, "Thanks, (DS), that's so nice of you!" He said it so kindly and thoughtfully, and she took it in just the spirit it was intended.

Emigee, I didn't see this earlier...I just have to say how lovely this was to read. One of the most heartwarming things to me is seeing siblings loving, appreciating, and supporting each other. They do you great credit!

DS6 on wanting to become a vegetarian: "How would you like to be cooked in an oven? You wouldn't, would you?"
