    Hello,

Any advice or experience using ERB CTP4 to advocate for enrichment/accommodation? DS10 scored 99th percentile using independent school norms for reading comprehension, writing mechanics, and vocabulary with similar EXPLORE scores in English and Reading (95th/84th respectively) last spring in 4th grade. He is a voracious reader and needs more challenge but we aren't sure how to accomplish that. Twin DD10 scored >90th percentile in most things too but scores not as out there. They are in the same class in a small independent school and love it but don't have to work very hard.

    Any thoughts are welcome!

    Thanks so much,
    Dee

It is worth advocating with the school for your DS10 because 99th percentile using independent school norms is a really good indicator of his mastery of core subjects - in our case, my son got similar scores at ages 7 and 8 and the school automatically accelerated him in LA and math without any requests on our part. They said that their policy was to accelerate when CTP4 scores were so high because they did not want student boredom in class.

Thanks Ashley! What did that acceleration look like? Looking for some guidance on what might be appropriate to discuss with the school.

They gave my son another test in math and LA after the CTP4 test result came in using the school's own test - the test went all the way up to 8th grade level material and they wanted to see how far my son could go on that test. They placed him at a level where he stopped showing mastery of the material. They group similar kids in the classes and instruct according to their abilities.
