    Welcome!

What are your dd9's interests in math? creative writing? science?

What are your ds7's interests in these areas?

What type of "gifted program" are you trying to prepare your ds3 for?

The reason I ask is because, in general, when considering afterschooling and enrichment, parents of gifted children:
    - let the gifted child take the lead,
    - seek resources to match the gifted child's interests/passions.
Providing a more parent-driven approach may often be considered "pushing", "hot-housing", or "tiger parenting"... approaches which may cause the child to suffer emotionally.

Have your children tested as gifted? Do they have opportunity to spend time with other intellectual peers (for example, other gifted kids)?

    Hey Indigo,
Yah so DD9's more mathsy and loves to write &draw while ds7 likes to read more than doing heavy calculations(read well in comprehension).
I am looking for either Public school's gifted program or homeschooling since we have moved from a private school. They were in the top 10% .The problem they are having is they are getting bored in class and they don't quite like their school frown
    Thank you for your input.

You may already be familiar with any of the following resources...

    General
    - Gifted Homeschooler's Forum (GHF), especially the resources listed under the "Favorite Things" tab
    - Davidson Database, Resources by Subject Area
    - Hoagies Gifted Education Page
    - Library of Congress (LOC)
    - Khan Academy
    - Mensa for Kids
    - The Kid Story, info gathered and reposted in a blog format by a gifted kiddo

    Language Arts
    - Language Arts Curriculum by Michael Clay Thompson
    - For expanding vocabulary, there are multiple Word-Of-The-Day e-mail lists
    - Author Jan Brett offers activity pages, including Dolch Sight Words
    - Reading lists by age, under "Recommended Resources" on this Gifted Issues Discussion Forum.
    - Every Good Book, enter criteria to generate reading lists
    - Lexile Find-A-Book, enter criteria to generate reading lists
    - Scholastic book wizard, enter criteria to generate reading lists

    Math
    - Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) math
    - Life of Fred (LoF) math. Addresses the common kids' question, "when will I ever use this?": Begins each lesson with a problem which needs to be solved... then introduces the math. Does this in the context of a silly story. Is values-based (religious overtones).

    Science
    - Online Labs
    - Neuroscience for kids (NFK)
    - Theodore Gray Periodic Table of Elements (website, book)

    Drawing
    - great old thread on drawing books
    - Doodle 4 Google, annual contest (2016 competition opens Sept 14)

Hopefully through this brief roundup and other sources, you will find things to support your children's interests and passions, and meet them at their current developmental level.

There are many discussion threads on the forum which point to educational resources... including Good online science instruction for high school?.

There are many workbooks for grammar. Evan-Moor publishes a whole series of workbooks intended for quick daily use, including one for grammar and usage:
