Well, I finally got up the nerve to submit a DYS application for DS7. I was waiting to ask one of his teachers because I wanted her to get to know him a bit before having to fill out a Nominator form. Fortunately, she agreed!

I do have one concern, though. The WISC-IV profile and summary we have for him does not mention GAI anywhere, and that's his only qualifying score (his VCI and FSIQ are one point too low to qualify on their own). I didn't see anywhere on the form where I could attach additional notes explaining this. I'm hoping that the Davidson people are smart enough to figure this out?

I am honestly not certain, but if you are counting on the WISC score to get him in - I would want it to be clear. Can you submit the calculated GAI as a supplement?

Did you submit portfolio items that strengthen the whole application? I know its not necessary, but perhaps that clearly puts your DS over?

Honestly, we used scores (I have two DYS) and the documents themselves provided scores that were above their designated minimum. I think a supplemental document providing the GAI will strengthen your application. Best of luck! smile

You can go back to the psychologist and ask them to figure out the GAI and write a note for it (it will cost whatever time it takes btw). It is actually a bit more complicated than it sounds, and I wouldn't expect the Davidson people to get their own psychologist to do it...

I would also call them or e-mail them and let them know the supplemental info is coming and ask how best to get that to them.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the help, everyone. I just found out today that he was accepted into the DYS program!

For the record, I did end up attaching supplementary information to his application by e-mailing one of the administrators. I submitted his subtest scores along with a link to the WISC-IV Technical Report #4 (which provides a chart to calculate GAI from subtest scores directly).

    Anyways, we are quite thrilled!
