My kids really like the Kate DiCamillo books although for Ds6 I read them out loud. The easiest is Flora and Ulysses but ds6 liked Because of Winn Dixie best. On his own Ds6 is reading Horrid Henry, the shorter Roald Dahl, Aussie and Kiwi Bites etc. He is not really ready for books that look big but I might try him on something bigger on my Kindle over the summer.
