My 6 year old took the K-BIT 2. The school did not provide me with the individual verbal/non-verbal score but reported that he scored at the 122% percentile on the exam. How does that score compute to the 85-115 range? My understanding is that that number and the percentile number are not the same thing. Is that correct? I have requested the verbal/non verbal scores, but it will take a while to get them as the person that administered the test is only in school one or two days a week. Thanks!

There is no such thing as 122% percentile. Whoever gave you the score was probably confused. My guess is that it was actually a scaled score of 122.

Hmmmm. I will have to double check with the office. The form states that he scored 122 percentile and then goes on to say that since he scored 90 percentile or greater he is referred for further testing. When I asked for the individual and composite scores she did not refer me back to the results I already had. If I understand everything correctly, and I honestly am not sure I do, a composite score of 122 would not compute to a 90 percentile and he would not have been recommended for further screening.

Yes. To be in the 122%ile he would have to do better than 121 of a 100 people taking the test. I would say 122 was the actual score.

The KBIT has a standard deviation of 15, so a score of 122 should correlate to about the 93rd percentile.

Thank you so much everyone. Hopefully I will get the actual numbers soon and all of this will make more sense.

My answer never appeared so I am going to try again. smile Thank you so much everyone. I really appreciate the help. I cannot imagine that the 122 percentile is right so I will wait to get the scores and see if this all makes more sense then. Thank you!!
